The Challenge
During the Covid-19 crisis, Cobb County Schools needed to make an immediate pivot to remote education while being prepared to make the eventual shift back to the classroom and support a wide range of learning needs and health mandates.
Our Work
In the summer of 2020, Zia Learning began working with Cobb County Schools to provide district-level consulting services and professional development to teachers for remote and hybrid learning. As schools began to reopen, Zia worked with Cobb County district leaders to develop a Shared Synchronous Instruction model (SSI). This innovative approach leveraged an instructional rotation model that gave teachers a clear framework to provide engaging options while meeting the challenge of teaching to two simultaneous environments.
The Results
Over 7,000 teachers were trained and successfully implemented the model in the midst of one of the most challenging school years in history. Additionally, teachers leveraged lessons learned from the model to make a pivot towards personalized learning for the 2021 school year.
